Privacy Policy

We're serious about keeping your info safe while you plan your dark fantasy getaway

Last Updated: November 4, 2025

Look, we get it - nobody really enjoys reading privacy policies. But here at Blightshard Odyssey, we actually care about your privacy and want you to know what happens with your personal info when you're booking your gothic adventure with us.

This policy covers everything from when you first browse our site to when you're checking out after an epic fantasy experience. We're based in beautiful Whistler, BC, and we follow Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA, for those who care about the acronyms).

By using our website or staying at our resort, you're agreeing to what's outlined here. If something doesn't sit right with you, we'd love to chat about it before you book.

Personal Stuff You Give Us Directly
  • Booking Details: Name, email, phone number, address - the usual suspects when you're making a reservation
  • Payment Info: Credit card details (though we don't actually store the full numbers - that's handled securely by our payment processor)
  • Special Requests: Dietary restrictions, accessibility needs, character preferences for role-playing experiences
  • Profile Info: If you create an account, whatever you decide to share with us
Info We Collect Automatically
  • Website Analytics: IP address, browser type, pages you visit, how long you hang around
  • Device Data: What kind of device you're using to browse our site
  • Location Info: General location based on your IP (nothing creepy, just helps us serve you better)
Important: We'll never ask for sensitive info like your SIN or passport number unless it's legally required (and even then, we'll explain why).

We're not in the business of being sketchy with your data. Here's what we actually do with it:

Booking Management

Processing your reservations, sending confirmations, and making sure your suite's ready when you arrive

Communication

Answering your questions, sending booking updates, and occasionally sharing news about new experiences

Experience Customization

Tailoring your fantasy role-playing adventures based on your preferences

Improvements

Making our website better, understanding what guests love, and fixing what doesn't work

We won't spam you with marketing emails unless you've explicitly said you're cool with it. And you can opt out anytime - we promise we won't take it personally.

We're not selling your info to random companies. But we do work with some trusted partners:

Service Providers

Payment processors, email services, booking systems - basically the tech that keeps things running smoothly. They only get what they need to do their job.

Business Partners

Sometimes we team up with local tour operators or event coordinators for your wilderness adventures. They'll only know what's relevant to your specific experience.

Legal Requirements

If the law says we gotta share something (court orders, government requests, etc.), we will. But we'll fight for your privacy whenever we legally can.

We Promise: We'll never sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. That's just not our style.

Yeah, we use cookies - but not the chocolate chip kind (though we do serve those at breakfast).

Essential Cookies

These keep the site working properly - remembering what's in your cart, keeping you logged in, that sort of thing. Can't really turn these off without breaking stuff.

Analytics Cookies

Help us understand how people use our site. We use Google Analytics, but we've got it configured to respect your privacy as much as possible.

Marketing Cookies

These track your activity to show you relevant ads elsewhere online. You can disable these through your browser settings if they're not your thing.

Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. Check out your browser's help section to learn how to manage or delete them.

Security's kinda a big deal for us. Here's what we do:

  • SSL Encryption: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted
  • Secure Servers: Our data's stored on servers with industry-standard security measures
  • Limited Access: Only staff who genuinely need access to your info actually get it
  • Regular Updates: We keep our security systems current and patched
  • Payment Security: Credit card info is handled by PCI-compliant payment processors, not stored on our servers
Real Talk: No system is 100% hack-proof. We do our absolute best, but if there's ever a breach affecting your data, we'll let you know ASAP and tell you what steps to take.

Under Canadian privacy law, you've got some solid rights when it comes to your personal info:

Access Your Data

You can ask to see what personal information we have about you. We'll send it over within 30 days.

Correct Mistakes

If something's wrong or outdated, just let us know and we'll fix it up.

Delete Your Info

Want us to delete your data? We'll do it, unless we're legally required to keep it (like for tax records).

Opt Out of Marketing

Sick of our emails? Click unsubscribe or shoot us a message. No hard feelings.

Withdraw Consent

Changed your mind about something you previously agreed to? Let us know.

To exercise any of these rights, just reach out to us at reservations@blightshardodyssey.info or call (604) 555-0847.

We don't hang onto your info forever - that'd just be weird and unnecessary. Here's our general approach:

  • Active Bookings: We keep your info while you've got a reservation and for a reasonable time after your stay (usually about a year)
  • Financial Records: Tax laws require us to keep payment records for 7 years - that's not our choice, blame the CRA
  • Marketing Lists: Until you unsubscribe or we haven't heard from you in 3 years
  • Account Data: As long as your account's active, plus a bit after if you delete it (to prevent fraud)

Once we don't need your data anymore, we'll either delete it or anonymize it so it can't be traced back to you personally.

Our resort's designed for adults looking for an immersive gothic fantasy experience. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 without parental consent.

If you're booking for a family with kids, the parent or guardian's responsible for providing their information. If you're under 16, please get your parent's permission before sharing any personal details with us.

If we discover we've accidentally collected info from a child without proper consent, we'll delete it as quickly as possible. Parents, if you think we might have your kid's info and shouldn't, let us know right away.

Privacy laws evolve, our business grows, and sometimes we need to update this policy. When we make changes, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

If there's a major change that significantly affects how we handle your data, we'll make sure to let you know - probably through email or a notice on our website. We won't just sneak changes in and hope you don't notice.

We'd recommend checking back here occasionally, especially if you're a regular guest. But honestly, we'll make sure any important updates reach you directly.

If anything in this policy doesn't make sense, or if you've got concerns about how we're handling your information, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to help, not hide behind legal jargon.
